2011 Graduate – Danielle Davis
Rancho Palos Verdes is an affluent suburb of Los Angeles. Sitting atop the Palos Verdes Hills and bluffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, it is known for expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. The history of Rancho Palos Verdes dates back to the Spanish explorers and the establishment of the first Spanish rancho land grant in California. Its most notable geographic features are the Palos Verdes Hills and cliffs with grand vistas of the Pacific Ocean, with views of Santa Catalina Island. Its most notorious geographic feature is the continuous landslide at Portuguese Bend, which may have been caused in part by septic runoff from homes in Rancho Palos Verdes and its neighboring communities.
Rancho Palos Verdes was incorporated on September 7, 1973. Rancho Palos Verdes translates from Spanish as Green Mast Farm or Green Pole Farm, referring to the North American tree species Parkinsonia florida (blue palo verde). On September 7, 2003, the City of Rancho Palos Verdes celebrated its 30th anniversary. Each year is a milestone for all of the people who worked so hard and so long for incorporation and for all of those who have enjoyed the benefits ever since.
On a personal note, here is a young lady that also worked long and hard to achieve a milestone. Please meet a very lovely lady, Miss Danielle Davis. Danielle had attended a public high school for about a year and a half when she and her family had an opportunity in Japan. Danielle obviously still needed to finish high school. The Japanese school system was not an option due to the language barrier. Danielle and her family began a search for a high school that they could “take to Japan.” Citizens’ fit the bill perfectly. Danielle enrolled in the academic curriculum and completed the rest of her high school requirements with Citizens’. She graduated in March of last year.
While in Japan she began a modeling career. This fueled a passion in her that led her to the All About Face Academy. Danielle graduated from there in November of 2011. Since then Danielle is working full time in the modeling industry. She is a modeling agent and booker.
Her current employment and future aspirations all started with a desire to finish high school in less than desirable conditions. With an accredited curriculum you can study at home, time does permit outside activities to a greater extent than brick-and-mortar schools. Modeling filled that gap that ultimately led to where she is now. We are proud of Danielle and wish her continued success. The next time you are in Rancho Palos Verdes and you find yourself staring at the most beautiful girl in town; that would be
