2001 Graduate – Cherish S. Kingrea

Cherish S KingreaPlease join us in congratulating the second Graduate of the Month for the year.
This is Cherish S. Kingrea and she hails from a place rich in our American Culture, Pulaski, Virginia. Historic Downtown Pulaski is a Virginia Main Street Community. The downtown area offers antique shops, galleries, gift shops and restaurants in Virginia’s New River Valley.

Cherish completed the requirements for a high school diploma last March and graduated from Citizens’’ High School with a 3.6 GPA. You may not be impressed with that statistic, but wait! She finished her last two academic years in a little over ten months. This feat of drive and determination facilitated her finishing high school a full year ahead of her peer group.

When we asked Cherish why she chose Citizens’’ High School her response was typical. “Home study is easier because I don’t have all the distractions of a regular high school.” She also told us that she didn’t like getting up at 7:00 in the morning to go to school. That might sound like laziness, but it isn’t really. Much research has been done on study patterns, learning methods, and body clocks. We know that Cherish was successful at home study due to her having the ability and flexibility to study when it was best for her personally. This is something public or private high schools cannot offer. Group paced instruction often leaves some students behind while not challenging others. This was the case for Cherish. She was ready and able to press forward at a pace faster than the “group.”

Cherish’s experience with Citizens’’ High School was a positive one for many reasons. “It has made a difference in my life.” “I would definitely recommend home study and Citizens’’ to others.” Cherish also told us that her parents are proud of her. We are too! The most important person in all of this with pride is Cherish herself. With her diploma in hand, she can tackle life’s next challenge with confidence and self-assuredness that comes with past successes in achieving goals.

Miss Cherish Kingrea has plans and goals for the future that include college and possibly even pursuing a career as a Private Investigator. We wish her good fortune as we know she will be successful in any endeavor she undertakes.

Ms. Cherish S. Kingrea is Citizens’ High School
“Graduate of the Month” for February 2001.
