2003 Graduate – Micah Scott Brown
Micah Scott Brown was interested in a quality education and chose to pursue home school altnerative. Micah Graduated from Citizens’ High School last April with a sizzling 4.0 GPA. His motivation to do well was driven by the desire to defend our nation against all enemies, foreign and domestic, in the United States Air Force. Micah wanted to join the military but knew a high school diploma was a mandatory requirement. The most expedient way to earn that diploma was homeschool. Micah chose Citizens’ High School to assist him with his homeschool needs.
It was not so very long ago that all the branches of the military had no interest in homeschoolers. It was impossible for them to enlist and serve. But, even prior to September 11, 2000, the military started to look more closely at home schooled high school graduates due to their testing results on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) of tests. It seems that homeschoolers on average do better that government school graduates. Diploma holding homeschoolers are now evaluated on an individual basis to determine their readiness to serve. we are proud to report that Micah is now a proud member of the armed forces.
Micah’s passion is flying. Not only is he in the Air force, he’s a licensed Private Pilot. His future plans include saving money while in the service and become a commercial pilot when his tour is over. Until that day, you can find Micah in England on the Royal Air Force Base Mildon Hall. Micah’s success has been so demonstrative, that his parents decided to enroll his Sister, Michele. Michele has been a student of ours now for over a year. She too is doing exceedingly well.
Micah has been chosen as a featured graduate for many reasons. His dedication to country, his academic performance, his successes, and his future plans, make him a viable and deserving recipient of this prestigious award. We are grateful that Micah is protecting our liberties and we are proud he chose us to help him achieve his goals.
Mr. Micah Scott Brown is Citizens’ High School
